Katriona Chapman

I am a 27 year old illustrator currently based in London. I studied at Goldsmiths college and have a first-class degree in English & Theatre Arts.
I've always been equally passionate about art and reading, and for me illustration is the perfect way of combining these two interests. I am fascinated by narrative and visual story-telling.

I work in black & white and colour, and my favourite media are pencils and coloured pencils, though I also use pastels and watercolour in my illustration work. I particularly enjoy human and natural history subjects.
I am experienced in using Photoshop.

I have completed many illustration and graphic design commissions in the publishing field, particularly in the field of children’s reference/non-fiction. I have worked for clients such as Polka Children’s Theatre, Miles Kelly Publishing and CBBC.

I’ve had work published in ‘Illustration’ magazine, 'Leisure Painter' and ‘Artists & Illustrators’, and have taken part in various exhibitions including the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art. I am a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and the Brighton Illustrators Group.

In 2005 I won first prize in Derwent's ‘Illustrate a Fairytale’ competition.
